As a kid, I just started playing the clarinet because that was what they gave me. Astonishingly, a few years later I was selected to be the principal clarinetist for the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra.
I wasn't really interested in college, but I decided to take a few classes at a community college to test it out. Astonishingly, a couple years later I found myself at Cambridge University in England studying the Political Economy of the European Union and punting in the Cam.
I was curious about politics after high school so I volunteered for some local campaigns. Astonishingly, a couple of years later I found myself working for an entire term at the Supreme Court of the United States and hanging out with the Justices.
I just needed a job and I took the only construction work I could find as a project engineer. Astonishingly, a few years later I had built a bunch of buildings for the SEAL Teams in Coronado and was managing a $200M project for the Marines at Camp LeJeune.
I spent so much time working and traveling and building things, I never thought I'd get to settle down. So I moved into a box truck and traveled the country looking for a home. Astonishingly, I found San Luis Obispo.
I never thought I'd get married because I was 40 years old. Astonishingly,I met the most amazing woman and now after 5 years we have 4 wonderful kids.
I didn't set out to start a business. I just needed to provide for my family. but a friend called and told me about how awesome solar was. I agreed wholeheartedly. Astonishingly, just a few years later we're building solar projects all over California and Mexico.
These are a few highlights--And I've got a lot of stories I'd love to share more if we happen to get the time. I've been so blessed, and I'm so thankful. I'm truly astonished by all the things that have happened.
Now I'm doing this Solstrut thing because it's truly awesome... and I'm confident we'll have a another "Astonishingly" successful adventure.
